Thanks to Sony’s virtual surround technology, the soundbar can position sound in vertical space – so you can experience three-dimensional audio without the need for in-ceiling or up-firing speakers. As well as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, Vertical Surround Engine lends a more realistic, multi-dimensional sound to other formats too.
Using front speakers only, Sony’s unique digital sound field processing technology virtually reproduces the surround sound field, with audio coming at you from both sides. You can enjoy rich, cinematic surround sound without cluttering your living space.
With Sony's newly developed upmixer, you can experience three-dimensional surround sound not only with surround sound format content, but also with stereo content, like streaming video or music services. Analysing the track in real time, Sony new algorithm extracts individual sound objects and reallocates them, giving you three-dimensional surround sound.
The powerful speakers include a dedicated centre speaker for clear dialogue and built-in dual subwoofer for punchy bass. They work together to deliver clear and wide-ranging sound throughout your room.
The built-in dual subwoofer and front speakers feature an X-Balanced Speaker design. The unique rectangular shape of these speakers maximises the diaphragm area for more punchy bass. It also reduces driver excursion while maintaining sound pressure, resulting in less distortion and greater vocal clarity.
The built-in subwoofers use an X-Balanced Speaker design to maximise the diaphragm size in the limited space, delivering powerful bass from a compact soundbar. The unique duct shape is the secret to delivering the deep bass normally associated with larger speakers — especially when listening at low volume.
Using a single speaker unit to reproduce a wide frequency range from bass to treble simultaneously can cause distortion and result in a muffled and unclear sound image. Sony unique signal processing technology suppresses the distortion and secure clear dialogue and precise imaging.

When an original music source is compressed, it loses the high-frequency elements that give detail and richness to a track. Sony Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) faithfully restores these to produce high-quality sound that’s closer to the original recording.

Setting up and using your soundbar is easier than ever with the Sony | Home Entertainment Connect app. It can guide you through initial settings, assist with troubleshooting, and give you full control of volume, sound field and more right from your smartphone.
A simple remote control combines a pleasing, hand-fit design with easy, intuitive operation. Convenient features include dedicated buttons for adjusting the volume and sound settings.

With an integrated User Interface (UI), the soundbar sound settings automatically appear on the BRAVIA Quick Settings menu for easy control of features, like Sound Field and volume[FN|Integrated UI works with compatible models.
