Description
Capture more in every frame with the Canon RF 16mm F 2.8 Stepping Motor ultra wide prime lens. Purpose built for the Canon EOS R system, this compact, lightweight full frame lens delivers expansive views that elevate vlogging, travel, landscape, architecture, and even astrophotography. Slip it on your mirrorless camera and enjoy crisp, immersive perspectives without the bulk.
Creators will love the fast F 2.8 aperture for confident shooting in low light and for achieving smooth background separation with soft, circular bokeh. Whether you are filming handheld walk‑throughs or photographing sweeping cityscapes at blue hour, the bright aperture helps keep ISO down and shutter speeds up for cleaner, sharper content.
The advanced Stepping Motor autofocus is smooth and quiet, ideal for video where silent focusing matters. It is quick for stills and refined for cinematic focus transitions, helping your footage look professional straight out of camera. Paired with the ultra wide 16mm focal length, it is a powerful combination for on‑the‑go creators who need reliable, fast, and unobtrusive performance.
Image quality is impressive across the frame. A precise optical design with nine elements in seven groups, including a PMo aspheric element, delivers accurate color, crisp contrast, and edge‑to‑edge detail that flatters interiors, architecture, and travel scenes. Expect vivid, high‑impact images that stand out on social feeds and high‑resolution displays.
Need extra reach? Switch to crop mode and this 16mm becomes an effective 25.6mm wide angle, giving you a second, versatile field of view without changing lenses. From ultra wide establishing shots to more natural perspective clips, you can adapt instantly as your story unfolds.
All this capability comes in a take‑anywhere form factor. Weighing just 165 g and measuring approximately 40.1 mm in length, it is a perfect everyday companion you can leave on your camera or keep in your kit for spontaneous creative moments.
